Pegwell nature reserve is a local beauty spot, about 8 km. from Hilderstone College. It’s a wonderful place for walkers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts, with beautiful wetland walks and a great ‘hide’, a special lookout hut for birdwatchers. It begins at the famous Viking boat, a replica of a re-constructed Viking Longship. The replica sailed from Denmark to Thanet in 1949, to commemorate the 1,500th anniversary of the original Viking landing here in A.D. 449. #hilderstone
