My name is Laura, I am from Germany and I am 22 years old. In 2016 I decided to take a summer course at Hilderstone College to improve my English.
One of the things which encouraged me to choose exactly this college was the range of several courses they offer. There are preparation courses for Cambridge Certificates or IELTS, lectures for Business English or just workshops for General English.
All the teachers are really keen on motivating you to learn the language and helping you with any questions you have. Not just because of their huge engagement, they also try to figure out where your personal weaknesses and strength are. Therefore you can be sure about individual support.
All of that happens in a really familiar atmosphere, without any judging about your pronunciation, cultural background or asking ‘‘stupid questions”. From the beginning students and teachers have the same aim – to make you feel more comfortable and self confident in speaking English.
Learing English at Hilderstone doesn’t mean just sitting a classroom and doing exercises. You also have the opportunity to find out more about Great Britain, its culture, tradition and history on the weekly trips they organise. I, for example, enjoyed trips to Dover Castle, Ramsgate or the breathtaking cathedral in Canterbury.
Another thing which convinced me about Hilderstone is their idea for accommodating students in host families. With this you have another brilliant chance for getting more integrated in the language and typical daily life. (Regards to Pete and Sue on this point – they were just the best! J )
Coming to a conclusion – Hilderstone College and all the lovely teachers there provide a perfect and really caring place for extending and improving your English skills. Without any doubt – going there was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my entire life.
Because it’s not just a course, it’s a whole experience surrounded by a beautiful landscape and finding a second family with members from the whole world!
