DAY OF ACTION BY U.K. LANGUAGE SCHOOLS

On 19 July two Hilderstone College staff members, Melanie McLaren and Rianna Wright, went to London to participate in the Save UK ELT Day of Action.  It took place at Old Palace Yard in London.  The aims of the event were to call on our government to provide additional support to all English language schools […]

OUR CREATIVE STUDENTS

Hilderstone students are a creative bunch! In addition to academic essays and functional English, they can also produce some excellent poetry and stories. We love reading them, and thought you might too. We’ll add to this blog post as new pieces of writing come in, so keep checking!

Hilderstone College student De Sun Ryou speaks about his experience of entering the UK to study during this difficult time: passenger locator form, Covid-19 tests and quarantine.   It may seem daunting but De Sun explains the procedure is not too difficult, and help is always available. NORTH FORELAND LIGHTHOUSE

North Foreland Lighthouse, along the coast between Broadstairs and Margate, was built in 1691. It was first lit by fire in 1499! The lighthouse is probably one of the most photographed local landmarks in the Isle of Thanet.

CHARLES DICKENS PUB AND DINING ROOMS

The building is around 200 years old and in the late 1800s was an entertainment venue. From the early 1900s it had other uses (including a café) but has been a pub since the 1960s and is now named after a very famous visitor to Broadstairs!

She was enthusiastic and she worked hard. After two attempts, she got the grade she needed to do a Pre-Sessional Course at the […]

THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP, Broadstairs

Dating back to 1588 and close to the sea, The Old Curiosity Shop in our town of Broadstairs was connected with smuggling long ago, but is now a popular cafe and a popular subject for photographers! It is named after a novel by Charles Dickens, who spent a lot of time in Broadstairs. #HilderstoneExperience #hilderstone […]

By walking, running or dancing, they have added at least 45 km to our […]
