For intermediate-level students who intend to take IELTS but are not yet ready for the Pre-university course.
Prepare for IELTS by developing your overall English ability, as well as preparing for the specific requirements of this internationally-recognised test. To improve your IELTS score, you need to do two things: improve your exam technique and improve your English. This Intensive English and IELTS preparation course will help you do just that!
An IELTS score is the language requirement for study at a British university and the Intensive English and IELTS course is the start of your preparation for university study. Our experienced and professional teachers will help you to your goal of IELTS success.
Due to the Covid-19 situation, there may be times when other students join the class online (hybrid learning). To enable the class to interact with one another, everyone should be prepared to connect online. You will receive access details in advance. All students need to bring either a laptop or a tablet to take part in our courses.
The aim of the this course is to allow students to continue to improve their general skills of English while also getting a thorough introduction to the basics of IELTS. It is a fundamental belief at Hilderstone College that improvement in an IELTS band will only come through a balance of understanding the requirements of the exam AND improving your English.
You will spend your mornings in an intermediate-level class building your overall level of English - grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. This training will allow you to develop your language, your fluency and your confidence in social, professional and academic situations.
In the afternoons, you will have an IELTS preparation class. In this part of the course, you will practise and improve your academic English skills in order to reach your full potential in the exam. You will be introduced to the techniques needed for success and will have lots of opportunity to practise them. You will also have timed practice tests so that you can get used to the timings of the exam.
You will improve your general level of English, both in terms of accuracy and fluency, as well as prepare for and practise the skills and techniques of the exam in order to achieve your full potential. By the end of the course, you will know how to prepare for IELTS and we will help you to enrol for the exam.
